Wichita County (Texas)

The Wichita County is a county located in the state of Texas in the United States. The administrative headquarters ( County Seat) is Wichita Falls.

Geography

The County is located in North Texas, bordered on the north and Oklahoma has an area of ​​1639 square kilometers, of which 14 square kilometers are water surface. It is bordered clockwise to the following counties: Tillman County and Cotton County, both in Oklahoma, Clay County, Archer County and Wilbarger County.

History

Wichita County was formed in 1858 from parts of Cooke County. It was named for the Wichita Indian tribe.
