Hudspeth County, Texas

The Hudspeth County is a county located in the state of Texas in the United States. The seat of the county government ( county seat ) is located in Sierra Blanca.

Geography

The County is located in western Texas and New Mexico bounded on the north and south to Mexico. It has an area of ​​11,841 square kilometers, of which 2 square kilometers is water area. It is bordered clockwise to the following counties: Otaro County in New Mexico, Culberson County, Jeff Davis County and El Paso County.

History

Hudspeth County was formed in 1917 from parts of El Paso County. It was named for Claude Benton Hudspeth, a statesman, senator from El Paso, Rancher, and publisher of a newspaper.

Demographic data

According to the census in 2000 lived in Hudspeth County 3,344 people in 1,092 households and 841 families. The population density was 0.3 people per square kilometer.
