Coke County, Texas

The Coke County is a county located in the state of Texas in the United States. The seat of the county government ( county seat ) is located in Robert Lee.

Geography

The County is located about 100 km north-west of the geographic center of Texas and has an area of ​​2403 square kilometers, of which 76 square kilometers are water surface. It is bordered clockwise to the following counties: Nolan County, Runnels County, Tom Green County, Sterling County and Mitchell County.

History

Coke County was formed in 1889 from parts of Tom Green County. It was named for Richard Coke, the fifteenth governor of Texas.

Demographic data

According to the census in 2000 lived in Coke County 3,864 people in 1,544 households and 1,068 families. The population density was 2 people per square kilometer.
