Geography

The County is located south of the geographic center of Texas and is with its southwestern border about 70 km from Mexico. It has an area of ​​2938 square kilometers, of which 3 square miles is water area. It is bordered clockwise to the following counties: Medina County, Atascosa County, La Salle County, and Zavala County.

History

Frio County was formed in 1858 from parts of Atascosa County, Bexar County and Uvalde County. It was named for the Frio River.
