Borden County, Texas

The Borden County is a county located in the state of Texas in the United States. The seat of the county government ( county seat ) is located in Gail. The county is one of the Dry counties, which means that the sale of alcohol is restricted or prohibited.

Geography

The Borden County is located north-west of the geographic center of Texas and has an area of ​​2347 square kilometers, of which 19 square kilometers are water surface. It is bordered clockwise to the following counties: Garza County, Scurry County, Mitchell County, Howard County, Martin County, and Dawson County Lynn County.

History

Borden County was formed in 1876 from parts of Bexar County. It was named for Gail Borden, Jr., a businessman and inventor of condensed milk.

Demographic data

According to the census in 2000, lived in the Borden County 729 people in 292 households, and 216 families. The population density was 0.3 people per square kilometer.
