Limestone County (Texas)

The Limestone County is a county located in the state of Texas in the United States. The seat of the county government ( county seat ) is located in Groesbeck.

Geography

The County is located north-east of the geographic center of Texas, about half way to Louisiana and Arkansas. It has an area of ​​2417 square kilometers, of which 63 square kilometers are water surface. It is bordered clockwise to the following counties: Navarro County, Freestone County, Leon County, Robertson County, Falls County, McLennan County and Hill County.

History

Limestone County was formed in 1846 from parts of Robertson County.

Demographic data

According to the census in 2000 lived in Limestone County 22,051 people in 7,906 households and 5,652 families. The population density was 9 people per square kilometer. The average age was 37 years. For every 100 females there were 103.2 males to 100 females age 18 and over, there were 100.8 males.
