Coolidge is a city in Limestone County in the U.S. state of Texas in the United States.

Geography

The city is located in the north of the county, in east-central Texas and has a total area of 2.6 km ², of which 0.1 km ² water surface.

History

The city was founded in 1903 as the Trinity and Brazos Valley Railway their tracks laid from Hillsboro to Mexia. It was named after one of the shareholders of the company.

Demographic data

According to the census of 2000, there were 848 people in 305 households, and 208 families. The population density was 337.5 inhabitants per km ². The racial the population was composed of 62.38 % White, 18.63 % African American, 0.59 % Native American, 0.12 % Asian, 0.00% Pacific Islander residents from the and 15.45% from other ethnic groups. Approximately 2.83% were of mixed descent, and 32.08 % of the population were Hispanic or Latino of any race.

Of the 305 households 39.3% had children under the age of 18 living with them. 47.2 % were married couples living together. 15.7% were single mothers and 31.8% were non-families. 29.2 % of all households were single-person households, and 15.7% had someone living alone who was 65 years of age or older. The average household size was 2.78 and the average family size was 3.38 persons to.
