The Goliad County is a county located in the state of Texas in the United States. The seat of the county administration is located in Goliad.

Geography

The County is located southeast of the geographic center of Texas, about 50 km from the Gulf of Mexico and has an area of ​​2226 square kilometers, of which 15 square kilometers are water surface. It is bordered clockwise to the following counties: DeWitt County, Victoria County, Refugio County, Bee County and Karnes County.

History

Goliad County was formed in 1836 as an original county. It was named after the Mexican settlement of Goliad.

Demographic data

According to the census in 2000 lived in Goliad County 6,928 people in 2,644 households and 1,975 families. The population density was 3 people per square kilometer.
