Dawson County (Texas)

The Dawson County is a county located in the state of Texas in the United States. The administrative headquarters ( County Seat) is Lamesa. The county is one of the Dry counties, which means that the sale of alcohol is restricted or prohibited.

Geography

The County is located north-west of the geographic center of Texas in Llano Estacado and in the West is about 70 km from New Mexico removed. History

Dawson County was formed in 1876 from parts of Bexar County. It was named for Nicholas Mosby Dawson, a soldier during the Texas Revolution.
