La Salle County (Texas)

The La Salle County is a county located in the state of Texas in the United States. The seat of the county government ( county seat ) is located in Cotulla.

Geography

The County is located south of the geographic center of Texas and is located in the southwest about 50 km from the border with Mexico. It has an area of ​​3870 square kilometers, of which 14 square kilometers are water surface. It is bordered clockwise to the following counties: Frio County, McMullen County, Webb County and Dimmit County.

History

La Salle County was formed in 1858 from parts of Bexar County. It was named after Robert Cavelier, Sieur de La Salle, the French explorer.
