Geography

The County is located in North Texas, the Texas Panhandle, on the east by Oklahoma and has an area of ​​2371 square kilometers, of which 3 square miles is water area. It is bordered clockwise to the following counties: Hemphill County, Roger Mills County and Beckham County, Oklahoma, Collingsworth County and Gray County.

History

Wheeler County was formed in 1876 from parts of Bexar County and Young County. It was named for Royal Tyler Wheeler, the second President of the Supreme Court of Texas.
