History

The Beckham County was formed on July 16, 1907 from parts of the Roger Mills County and the Greer territory. It was named after John Crepps Wickliffe Beckham (1869-1940), a former governor (1900-1907) and U.S. Senator from Kentucky ( 1015-1921 ).
