Texas County (Oklahoma)

Texas County is a county located in the state of Oklahoma in the United States. The administrative headquarters ( County Seat) is Guymon.

Geography

The County is located almost in the extreme northwest of Oklahoma, bordered to the north by Kansas, on the south by Texas and has an area of ​​5306 square kilometers, of which 30 square kilometers are water surface. It is bordered clockwise to the following counties: Stevens County ( Kansas), Seward County ( Kansas), Beaver County, Ochiltree County ( Texas), Hansford County ( Texas), Sherman County ( Texas), Cimarron County and Morton County ( Kansas).

History

Texas County was formed on July 16, 1907 from parts of Beaver County and parts of Oklahoma Territory, the so-called No Man's Land. It was named after the neighboring state of Texas.
