Major County, Oklahoma

Major County is a county located in the state of Oklahoma in the United States. The administrative headquarters ( County Seat) is Fairview.

Geography

The County is located in northwestern Oklahoma, is located in the north about 60 miles from Kansas and has an area of 2481 square kilometers, of which 3 square miles is water area. It is bordered clockwise to the following counties: Woods County, Alfalfa County, Garfield County, Kingfisher County, Blaine County, Dewey County and Woodward County.

History

Major County was formed on July 16, 1907 from parts of the Woods County. It was named after John C. Major, a member of the Constituent Assembly ( " Constitunional Convention " ) of Oklahoma.
