Hughes County (Oklahoma)

Hughes County is a county located in the U.S. state of Oklahoma in the United States. The administrative headquarters ( County Seat) is Holdenville.

Geography

The County is located just north-west of the geographic center of Oklahoma and has an area of ​​2110 square kilometers, of which 20 square kilometers are water surface. History

Hughes County was formed on 16 July 1907 as original county of Muskogee country. It was named after W. C. Hughes a member of the Constituent Assembly ( " Constitunional Convention " ) of Oklahoma.
