Cimarron County, Oklahoma

The Cimarron County is a county located in the U.S. state of Oklahoma. In the census in 2010, the County had 2,475 inhabitants and a population density of 0.5 inhabitants per square kilometer. The administrative headquarters ( County Seat) is Boise City.

Geography

The county is sparsely populated and is located at the extreme western end of the Oklahoma Panhandle, a 60 -kilometer-wide strip on the south by Texas, on the west by New Mexico, and on the north by Kansas and Colorado.

History

The Cimarron County was founded on July 16, 1907 from parts of Beaver County and former Indian land, also known as No Man 's Land, formed. It was named for the Cimarron River, which flows through the county.
