The Crockett County is a county located in the state of Texas in the United States. The seat of the county administration is in Ozona.

Geography

The County lies to the west of the geographic center of Texas and has an area of ​​7271 square kilometers, without significant water surface. The county is bordered clockwise to the following counties: Upton County, Reagan County, Irion County, Schleicher County, Sutton County, Val Verde County, Terrell County, Pecos County and Crane County.

History

Crockett County was formed in 1875 from parts of Bexar County. It was named for David Crockett, a legendary frontiersman, killed at the Battle of the Alamo.

Demographic data

According to the census in 2000 lived in Crockett County 4,099 people in 1,524 households and 1,114 families. The population density was 1 people per square kilometer.
