Bailey County, Texas

The Bailey County is a county located in the state of Texas in the United States. The seat of the county government ( county seat ) is located in Muleshoe. The county is one of the Dry counties, which means that the sale of alcohol is restricted or prohibited.

Geography

The County is located in north-west Texas on the border of New Mexico and has an area of ​​2143 square kilometers, of which 2 square kilometers is water area. It is bordered clockwise to the following counties: Parmer County, Lamb County, Hockley County, Cochran County.

History

Bailey County was formed in 1876 from parts of Bexar County. It was named for Peter James Bailey, a defender of the Alamo.
