Kleberg County, Texas

The Kleberg County is a county located in the state of Texas in the United States. The seat of the county government ( county seat ) is located in Kingsville.

Geography

The County is located in southeast Texas, is bordered on the east by the Gulf of Mexico and has an area of ​​2824 square kilometers, of which 568 square kilometers are water surface. It is bordered clockwise to the following counties: Nueces County, Kenedy County, Brooks County and Jim Wells County.

History

Kleberg County was formed in 1913 from parts of Nueces County. It was named after Robert Justus Kleberg, an early German settlers and soldiers at the Battle of San Jacinto.

Demographic data

According to the census in 2000 lived in Kleberg County 31,549 people in 10,896 households and 7,681 families. The population density was 14 people per square kilometer.
