Stephens County (Texas)

The Stephens County is a county located in the state of Texas in the United States. The administrative headquarters ( County Seat) is Breckenridge.

Geography

The County is located about 90 km north of the geographical center of Texas and has an area of ​​2387 square kilometers, of which 70 square kilometers are water surface. It is bordered clockwise to the following counties: Young County, Palo Pinto County, Eastland County, Shackelford County Throckmorton County.

History

The Stephens County was formed in 1858 from parts of Bosque County. It was named after Alexander Hamilton Stephens, the only Vice-President of the Confederate States of America.
