Jim Hogg County, Texas

The Jim Hogg County is a county located in the state of Texas in the United States. The seat of the county government ( county seat ) is located in Hebbronville.

Geography

The County is located in the south of Texas and is south and west about 40 km from Mexico and to the east about 80 km from the Gulf of Mexico. It has an area of ​​2943 square kilometers, without significant water surface. The county is bordered clockwise to the following counties: Duval County, Brooks County, Starr County, Zapata County and Webb County.

History

Jim Hogg County was formed in 1913 from parts of the Brooks County and Duval County. It was named after Jim Hogg, the 21 governor of Texas.

Demographic data

According to the census in 2000 lived in Jim Hogg County 5,281 people; were counted 1,815 households and 1,359 families. The population density was 2 people per square kilometer.
