Kinney County, Texas

The Kinney County is a county located in the state of Texas in the United States. The seat of the county government ( county seat ) is located in Brackettville.

Geography

The County is located southwest of the geographic center of Texas, in the southwest on the border with Mexico and has an area of ​​3356 square kilometers, of which 5 square kilometers is water area. It is bordered clockwise to the following counties: Edwards County, Uvalde County, Maverick County and Val Verde County.

History

Kinney County was formed in 1850 from parts of Bexar County. It was named for Henry Lawrence Kinney, an early settler and less successful land speculator.
