Polk County (Texas)

The Polk County is a county located in the state of Texas in the United States. The seat of the county government ( county seat ) is located in Livingston.

Geography

The County is located in East Texas, about 80 km from the border with Louisiana, and has an area of ​​2874 square kilometers, of which 136 square kilometers are water surface. It is bordered clockwise to the following counties: Angelina County, Tyler County, Hardin County, Liberty County, San Jacinto County and Trinity County.

History

Polk County was formed in 1836 as an original county. It was named after James Knox Polk, the 11th President of the United States.

Demographic data
