Geography

The County is located east of the geographic center of Texas and has an area of ​​2311 square kilometers, of which 38 square kilometers are water surface. It is bordered clockwise to the following counties: Henderson County, Leon County, Limestone County and Navarro County.

History

Freestone County was formed in 1850 from parts of Limestone County. It was named after a region in which there are nearly mineral-free water.
