Rockwall County, Texas

The Rockwall County is a county located in the state of Texas in the United States. The seat of the county government ( county seat ) is located in Rockwall.

Geography

The County is located north-east of the geographic center of Texas, is in the north about 80 miles from Oklahoma and belongs to the Dallas / Fort Worth Metroplex. It has an area of 385 square kilometers, of which 52 square kilometers are water surface. It is bordered clockwise to the following counties: Collin County, Hunt County, Kaufman County and Dallas County.

History

Rockwall County was formed in 1873 from parts of Kaufman County. It was named after the eponymous site of the later County.

Demographic data

According to the census in 2000 lived in Rockwall County 43.080 people in 14,530 households and 11,972 families. The population density was 129 people per square kilometer.
