Victoria County (Texas)

The Victoria County is a county located in the state of Texas in the United States. The administrative headquarters ( County Seat) is Victoria.

Geography

The County is located in southwest Texas, about 40 km from the Gulf of Mexico and has an area of ​​2302 square kilometers, of which 16 square kilometers are water surface. It is bordered clockwise to the following counties: Lavaca County, Jackson County, Calhoun County, Refugio County, Goliad County and DeWitt County.

History

Victoria County was formed in 1836 as an original county. It was named after Guadalupe Victoria, the first president of Mexico.
