Montgomery County (Texas)

The Montgomery County is a county located in the U.S. state of Texas. The seat of the county government ( county seat ) is located in Conroe.

Geography

The County is located in East Texas, about 100 kilometers from Louisiana in the southeast about 70 km from the Gulf of Mexico and the east and part of the Houston - Sugar Land - Baytown Metropolitan Area. History

Montgomery County was formed in 1837 from parts of Washington County. It was named after Montgomery, the largest settlement, as the county was formed.

Demographic data

According to the census of 2000, there were 293 768 people in Montgomery County; there were counted 103 296 households and 80 157 families. The population density was 109 people per square kilometer.
