Upton County, Texas

The Upton County is a county located in the state of Texas in the United States. The administrative headquarters ( County Seat) is Rankin.

Geography

The County is located approximately 200 km west of the geographic center of Texas and is in the northwest about 80 km from the southeastern tip of New Mexico removed. The county is bordered clockwise to the following counties: Midland County, Reagan County, Crockett County and Crane County.

History

Upton County was formed in 1887 from parts of Tom Green County. It was named Upton and his brother William Felton Upton, two officers of the Confederate Army by John Cunningham.
