Nueces County, Texas

The Nueces County is a county located in the U.S. state of Texas to the United States. The seat of the county government ( county seat ) is located in Corpus Christi.

Geography

The County is located in southeast Texas, on the Gulf of Mexico and has an area of 3021 square kilometers, of which 856 square kilometers are water surface. It is bordered clockwise to the following counties: San Patricio County, Kleberg County and Jim Wells County.

History

Nueces County was formed in 1846 from parts of San Patricio County. It was named for the Nueces River.

Demographic data

According to the census in 2000 lived in Nueces County 313 645 people in 110 365 households and 79 683 families. The population density was 145 people per square kilometer.
