Swisher County, Texas

The Swisher County is a county located in the state of Texas in the United States. The administrative headquarters ( County Seat) is Tulia. The county is one of the Dry counties, which means that the sale of alcohol is restricted or prohibited.

Geography

The County is located in northwest Texas, the Texas Panhandle, is in the west about 80 miles from New Mexico, some 150 km to the north and to the east about 120 miles from Oklahoma away. History

Swisher County was formed in 1876 from parts of Bexar County and Young County. It was named after James Gibson Swisher, a soldier in the Texas Revolution.
