Geography

The County is located in North Texas, the Texas Panhandle, on the border with Oklahoma and has an area of ​​2362 square kilometers, of which 6 square kilometers is water area. History

Hemphill County was formed in 1876 from parts of Bexar County and Young County. It was named after John Hemphill, a Congress Member of the Confederacy.
