Moore County (Texas)

The Moore County is a county located in the state of Texas in the United States. The seat of the county government ( county seat ) is located in Dumas.

Geography

The County is located in northwest Texas, the Texas Panhandle, is in the north about 40 miles from Oklahoma and to the west about 50 miles from New Mexico removed. History

Moore County was formed in 1876 from parts of Bexar County. It was named after Edwin Ward Moore, commander of the Texas Navy of the Republic of Texas.
