Parmer County, Texas

The Parmer County is a county located in the state of Texas in the United States. The seat of the county government ( county seat ) is located in Farwell. The county is one of the Dry counties, which means that the sale of alcohol is restricted or prohibited.

Geography

The County is located in northwest Texas, the Texas Panhandle, is bordered to the essence of New Mexico and has an area of ​​2293 square kilometers, of which nine square miles are water. It is bordered clockwise to the following counties: Deaf Smith County, Castro County, Lamb County, Bailey County and Curry County in New Mexico.

History

Parmer County was formed in 1876 from parts of Bexar County. It was named after Martin Parmer, a lawyer and a signer of the Texas Declaration of Independence.

Demographic data

According to the census of 2000, there were 10,016 people in Parmer County. Of these, 153 people were living in collective centers, the other residents living in 3,322 households and 2,614 families.
