Jim Wells County, Texas

The Jim Wells County is a county located in the state of Texas in the United States. The seat of the county government ( county seat ) is located in Alice.

Geography

The County is located in southeast Texas and is in the east about 60 km from the Gulf of Mexico and the Southwest and around 90 km from Mexico. It has an area of ​​2249 square kilometers, of which 10 square kilometers are water surface. It is bordered clockwise to the following counties: Live Oak County, San Patricio County, Nueces County, Kleberg County, Brooks County and Duval County.

History

Jim Wells County was formed in 1911 from parts of Nueces County. It was named after James Babbage Wells Jr., a politician from Texas.

Demographic data
