Guadalupe County (Texas)

The Guadalupe County is a county located in the state of Texas in the United States. The seat of the county government ( county seat ) is located in Seguin.

Geography

The County is located southeast of the geographic center of Texas, about halfway to the Gulf of Mexico and has an area of 1850 square kilometers, of which 8 square miles is water area. It is bordered clockwise to the following counties: Hays County, Caldwell County, Gonzales County, Wilson County, Bexar County and Comal County.

History

The Guadalupe County was formed in 1846 from parts of Bexar County and Gonzalez County. It was named after the Guadalupe River.

Demographic data

According to the census in 2000 in Guadalupe County 89 023 people lived in 30,900 households and 23,823 families. The population density was 48 people per square kilometer. The racial the population was made ​​up of 77.65 percent White, 5.01 percent African American, 0.55 percent Native American, 0.87 percent Asian, 0.10 percent of residents from the Pacific Islander and 12.76 percent from other races groups; 3.07 percent were descended from two or more races. 33.21 percent of the population are Hispanic or Latino of any race.

The average age was 35 years. For every 100 females there were 97 males and 100 females aged 18 and over, there were 94.3 males.
