Kenedy County, Texas

The Kenedy County is a county located in the state of Texas to the United States and is based on the population, the fourth- smallest county in the United States and the third smallest geographically in Texas. The seat of the county government ( county seat ) is located in Sarita.

Geography

The County is located in southeastern Texas on the Gulf of Mexico and has an area of ​​5039 square kilometers, of which 1266 square miles are water. It is bordered clockwise to the following counties: Kleberg County, Willacy County, Hidalgo County and Brooks County.

History

The Kenedy County was formed in 1921 from parts of Hidalgo County and Willacy County. It was named for Mifflin Kenedy, an early rancher in the area.
