Kent County (Texas)

The Kent County is a county located in the state of Texas in the United States. The seat of the county government ( county seat ) is located in Jayton. The county is one of the Dry counties, which means that the sale of alcohol is restricted or prohibited.

Geography

The County is located north-west of the geographic center of Texas and has an area of 2339 square kilometers, of which 2 square kilometers is water area. It is bordered clockwise to the following counties: Dickens County, Stonewall County, Fisher County, Scurry County and Garza County.

History

Kent County was formed in 1876 from parts of Bexar County and Young County. It was named for Andrew Kent, a defender of the Alamo.

According to the census in 2000 lived in Kent County 859 people in 353 households and 247 families. The population density was 0 people per square kilometer.
