Lamar County (Texas)

The Lamar County is a county located in the state of Texas in the United States. The seat of the county government ( County Seat) is located in Paris.

Geography

The County is located in northeast Texas, bordered on the north and Oklahoma is in the east about 80 miles from Arkansas, located in the southeast about 120 km from Louisiana. It has an area of ​​2415 square kilometers, of which 41 square kilometers are water surface. It is bordered clockwise to the following counties: Red River County, Delta County, Fannin County and Oklahoma to the Bryan County and Choctaw County.

History

Lamar County was formed in 1840 from parts of the Red River County. It was named after Mirabeau B. Lamar, the third President of the Republic of Texas.

Demographic data
