Smith County (Texas)

Geography

The County is located in northeast Texas, in the east about 60 km off Louisiana, in the northeast about 70 km before Arkansas and has an area of ​​2459 square kilometers, of which 55 square kilometers are water surface. History

Smith County was formed in 1846 from parts of Nacogdoches County. It was named for James Smith, a general during the Texas Revolution.
