McLennan County, Texas

The McLennan County is a county located in the state of Texas in the United States. The seat of the county government ( county seat ) is located in Waco.

Geography

The County is located about 80 km north-east of the geographic center of Texas and has an area of ​​2746 square kilometers, of which 48 square kilometers are water surface. It is bordered clockwise to the following counties: Hill County, Limestone County, Falls County, Bell County, Coryell County and Bosque County.

History

McLennan County was formed in 1850 from parts of Limestone County and Milam County. It was named for Neil McLennan, an early settler of the later County.

Demographic data

According to the census in 2000 lived in McLennan County 213 517 people in 78 859 households and 52 914 families. The population density was 79 people per square kilometer.
