McLennan County

Lacy Lakeview is a village in McLennan County in the U.S. state of Texas, which in 1953 formed from the formerly independent places and Lacy Lakeview. In 1998, the city Northcrest in the community.

Geography

The city is located in east-central Texas on Interstate 35, 8 km north of Waco and has a total area of 9.9 km ² without significant water surface.

Demographic data

According to the census of 2000, there were 5,764 people in 2,388 households and 1,487 families. The population density was 584.1 inhabitants per km ². The racial the population was composed of 74.15 % White, 14.89 % African American, 0.61 % Native American, 0.83 % Asian, 0.10 % Pacific Islander residents from the and 7.01 % from other ethnic groups. Approximately 2.41% were of mixed descent, and 16.31 % of the population were Hispanic or Latino of any race.

Of the 2,388 households, 31.1% had children under the age of 18 living with them. 42.4 % were married couples living together. 15.6% were single mothers and 37.7 % were non-families. 31.5 % of all households were single-person households and 6.7 % had someone living alone who was 65 years of age or older. The average household size was 2.41 and the average family size amounted to 3.07.

26.2% of the population were under 18 years old, 15.0 % from 18 to 24, 28.3 % 25-44, 20.2% from 45 to 64, and 10.2% who were 65 years or older. The average age was 31 years. For every 100 females of all ages were 101.0 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, 97.9 males.

The median income for a household was $ 31,135, and the median income for a family $ 36,962. Males had a median income of $ 25,272 versus $ 21,250 for females. The per capita income was $ 15,049. 11.3 % of the population and 9.0 % of families are below the poverty line. Of which 12.2 % have children under the age of 18 and 5.6 % of those 65 or older.
