Medina County (Texas)

The Medina County is a county located in the state of Texas in the United States. The seat of the county government ( county seat ) is located in Hondo.

Geography

The County is located south of the geographic center of Texas and is in the southwest about 70 km from Mexico. It has an area of ​​3456 square kilometers, of which 18 square kilometers are water surface. It is bordered clockwise to the following counties: Bandera County, Bexar County, Atascosa County, Frio County and Uvalde County.

History

Medina County was formed in 1848 from parts of Bexar County. It was named for the Medina River.

Demographic data

According to the census in 2000, lived in Medina County 39 304 people in 12,880 households and 10,136 families. The population density was 11 people per square kilometer.
