Hondo is a city and the county seat ( county seat ) of Medina County in the U.S. state of Texas in the United States.

Geography

The city is located on U.S. Highway 90 in Central County, in south-central Texas, 65 km west of San Antonio and has a total area of 24.9 km ², of which 0.1 km ² water surface.

Demographic data

According to the census of 2000, there were 7,897 people in 2,207 households and 1,664 families. The population density was 317.9 inhabitants per km ². The racial the population was composed of 73.33 % White, 8.33 % African American, 0.47 % Native American, 0.25 % Asian, 0.00% Pacific Islander residents from the and 15.23 % from other ethnic groups.
