Maverick County, Texas

The Maverick County is a county located in the state of Texas in the United States. The seat of the county government ( county seat ) is located in Eagle Pass.

Geography

The County is located in the south of Texas, bounded on the southwest by Mexico and has an area of ​​3346 square kilometers, of which 30 square kilometers are water surface. It is bordered clockwise to the following counties: Kinney County, and Zavala County.

History

Maverick County was formed in 1856 from parts of Kinney County. It was named after Samuel A. Maverick, an early Gesetzesentwerfer and later ranchers in the future County.

Demographic data

According to the census in 2000 lived in Maverick County 47 297 people in 13,089 households and 11,230 families. The population density was 14 people per square kilometer.
