Hays County, Texas

The Hays County is a county located in the state of Texas in the United States. The seat of the county government ( County Seat) is located in San Marcos.

Geography

The County is located about 100 km south-east of the geographic center of Texas and has an area of ​​1761 square kilometers, of which 5 square kilometers is water area. It is bordered clockwise to the following counties: Travis County, Caldwell County, Guadalupe County, Comal County and Blanco County.

History

Hays County was formed in 1848 from parts of Travis County. It was named for John Coffee Hays, a Texas Ranger and leading military officer in the Mexican-American War.
