Parker County, Texas
The Parker County is a county located in the state of Texas in the United States. The seat of the county government ( county seat ) is located in Weatherford.
Geography
The County is located about 120 km north-east of the geographic center of Texas, is part of the Dallas / Fort Worth Metroplex and has an area of 2357 square kilometers, of which 17 square kilometers are water surface. It is bordered clockwise to the following counties: Wise County, Tarrant County, Johnson County, Hood County, Palo Pinto County and Jack County.
History
Parker County was formed in 1855 from parts of Bosque County and Navarro County. It was named for Isaac Parker, an early jurists of Texas.
Demographic data
According to the census in 2000 lived in Parker County 98 495 people in 31 131 households, and 24,313 families. The population density was 38 people per square kilometer. The racial the population was made up of 83.17 percent White, 1.79 percent African American, 0.67 percent Native American, 0.35 percent Asian, 0.02 percent of residents from the Pacific Islander and 12.61 percent from other races groups; 1.38 percent were descended from two or more races. 7.02 percent of the population are Hispanic or Latino of any race.
Of the 31 131 households out of which 38.0 per cent of children or young people who lived with them. 65.6 percent were married couples living together, 8.7 percent were single mothers and 21.9 percent were non-families. 18.3 percent of all households and 7.1 percent had someone living alone at the age of 65 years or older. The average household size was 2.75 and the average family size was 3.11 persons.
27.5 percent of the population was under 18 years old, 7.9 percent between 18 to 24, 29.8 percent between 25 and 44, 24.2 percent between 45 and 64, and 10.5 percent were 65 years old or older. The average age was 36 years. For every 100 females there were 104.1 males to 100 females age 18 and over, there were 102.1 males.
The median income for a household was $ 45,497, and the median income for a family was $ 51,530. Males had a median income of $ 37,913, women $ 25,412. The per capita income was $ 20,305. 5.9 percent of families and 8.3 percent of the population lived below the poverty line.
