Hill County (Texas)

The Hill County is a county located in the state of Texas in the United States. The seat of the county government ( County Seat) is located in Hillsboro.

Geography

The County is located about 100 km north-east of the geographic center of Texas and has an area of ​​2553 square kilometers, of which 60 square kilometers are water surface. It is bordered clockwise to the following counties: Johnson County, Ellis County, Navarro County, Limestone County, McLennan County and Bosque County.

History

Hill County was formed in 1853 from parts of Navarro County. It was named after George Washington Hill, a War and Navy Minister of the Republic of Texas.

Demographic data

According to the census in 2000 lived in Hill County 32 321 people in 12,204 households and 8,725 families. The population density was 13 people per square kilometer.
