Orange County (Texas)
The Orange County is a county located in the U.S. state of Texas. The seat of the county government ( County Seat) is located in Orange.
Geography
The County is located in the extreme east of Texas at the mouth of the Sabine River and Neches River in the Sabine Lake. The Sabine River and Sabine Lake, a lagoon on the Gulf of Mexico, forming the border with Louisiana. It has an area of 923 square kilometers, of which 60 square kilometers are water surface. History
The Orange County was formed in 1852 from parts of the former Jefferson County. It was named after the orange, the most cultivated fruit of the early settlers at the mouth of the Sabine River.
Demographic data
According to the census in 2010 lived in Orange County 81 837 people in 32,790 households. The population density was 88.7 inhabitants per square kilometer.
The racial the population was composed of 86.1 percent white, 8.5 percent African American, 0.5 percent Native American, 1.0 percent Asian and other ethnic groups; 1.7 percent were descended from two or more races. Regardless of ethnicity were 5.8 percent of the population are Hispanic or Latino of any race. In the 32,790 households lived statistically 2.49 per person.
25.1 percent of the population were under 18 years old, 60.9 percent were between 18 and 64 and 14.0 percent were 65 years or older. 50.3 percent of the population was female.
