Geography

The County is located north-west of the geographic center of Texas and is in the northeast around 90 km from Oklahoma and west about 120 km from New Mexico. History

Floyd County was formed in 1876 from parts of Bexar County and Young County. It was named for Dolphin Ward Floyd, a defender of the Alamo.
