Menard County (Texas)

The Menard County is a county located in the state of Texas in the United States. The seat of the county government ( county seat ) is located in Menard.

Geography

The County is located near the geographical center of Texas and has an area of 2337 square kilometers, of which 1 square kilometers of water surface. It is bordered clockwise to the following counties: Concho County, McCulloch County, Mason County, Kimble County and Schleicher County.

History

Menard County was formed in 1858 from parts of Bexar County. It was named after Michel Branamour Menard, the founder of Galveston.

Demographic data

According to the census in 2000 lived in Menard County 2,360 people in 990 households and 665 families. The population density was 1 people per square kilometer.
